A few weeks ago, I left Third Street Cafe reminding myself if our home church never goes beyond the five to six people then I am okay with that. God has been doing something in each of our hearts confirming where we are at and why. This is a small update of exactly that.
Third Street Cafe started the last week in May. The whole group transitioned from the original few I met there to what it is today. It isn’t bad, it just happened that way as people are being led elsewhere. Yet Terry, who saw us that evening and has faithfully continued to come.
I want to thank each of you, who has prayed for Terry over the past few months. The week before last our simple church were able to throw a small party for graduating with a Pharmacy Tech degree. This was a huge accomplishment in Terry’s life, so celebration was needed! Cookie cake, Wal-Mart gift card and a photo taken with a frame to put on his wall of our church. And of course, coffee was purchased!
The weekend before last was the Simple Church Conference where Neil Cole was speaking. Dirk, Charity Joy and I were there from our church. It seemed everything Neil was saying was basically the Holy Spirit confirming what Jesus was doing in our little coffee shop community. A serious thanks for those who prayed for us that weekend because since that weekend so much has changed in Terry’s life.
Terry has made huge leaps and bounds as several of us continue to get texts from him the past ten days. It is a celebration about becoming whole again! Terry started cooking for himself, reading books at night, started a new job, etc. etc. These are basic things Terry has not been able to do in roughly five years due to his wife dying. I am blown away about how quickly his life has changed since meeting him at that picnic table just a few months ago.
Yes, life is sometimes a struggle for him as it is for all of us…. But he always ends anything he says with a grin and saying, “Philippians 4:3…. I can do all things who Christ who strengthens me.”
Jesus is into redeeming lives.
Thank you for your faithful prayers!
